Oldsquaw
Clangula hyemalis

19 December 2004
Hornsby Bend, Travis County, Texas, USA
Canon EOS 10D, 100-400mm IS lens, 1.4X extender.

This immature Oldsquaw was discovered by Barry Lyon and Victor Emanuel at Hornsby Bend on 22 November 2004. When I photographed it, it was hanging out with several Ruddy Ducks on the north side of Pond 2. I was able to snag a few quick photos, including this one, as the sun was setting. The bird on the right is a Ruddy Duck.
